Williamsburg, Va. - Reigning CAA Player of the Week, Andrew Hoxie, victimized the Dragons (4-3, 0-1 CAA) for a pair of goals en route to a 4-0 William & Mary (5-4, 1-0 CAA) victory to kick off the Colonial Athletic Association schedule for the season.
The Tribe scored three second-half goals despite being outshot by Drexel 13-6 in the period. The Dragons also earned six corner kicks in the second stanza while shutting out the Tribe in corners in the second 45 minutes.
Hoxie put the Tribe on top in the sixth minute with a score on the left side of the goal. Keeper Cory Robertson and the Dragons would silence William & Mary until the 63rd minute when Hoxie found the net again off an assist by Doug Ernst. Ernst would set up the third goal in the 75th minute, which was finished by Pat Scherder. And Ryan Overdevest added the final tally of the night in the 88th minute of play.
Chris Rake brought in six saves for the shutout. Robertson made three stops in goal for the Dragons. Drexel continues its tour of Virginia with a stop in Norfolk to take on Old Dominion on Sunday.
